After going through a million costumes this month, I rocked it out on Halloween night with a full on vintage get up (with a dress my mom bought me for my birthday <3) and a makeup look inspired by a photo shoot I saw a few years back. Thoughts?
Walking into spiderwebs…
Nail Of The Week: Bubblegum Rocker Chic?
This week I wanted to try out the splatter effect nail technique. I’ve tried it before using a brush and flicking it at the nail, but had limited success. This time I gave it a go using the straw method and it worked much better!
And what better to go with splatter nails than a Betsey Johnson inspired skull?

Tip Tuesday: Glitter Nai Polish!
Glitter nail polish.
I love it, it’s sparkly, it’s cool, and it makes me think I’m really a princess…
Until I go to take it off and I start uttering a variety of curse words as my cotton rounds are shredded to pieces on the evil that still sticks to my nails.
But I need not have suffered so!
Glitter nail polish is not so evil to remove as I once thought; I have learned how to banish the demon from my nails when I no longer feel like being a princess. The solution? TIN FOIL!
No. Really.
All you have to do is fully saturate a cotton round (or whatever fun disposable tool you are using to remove your polish) place it on your nail and wrap it with a strip of tin foil.
Sure, you’ll look like an Edward Scissorhands reject for a while, but the results are so worth it!
Let it sit on your nail for 5 -1 0 minutes and then (using a little bit of pressure) pull the tin foil, cotton round and all, off your nail. Voila!
Sometimes a small amount of touch up needs to be done, but generally it takes all of it off in one go. No tugging, no pulling, no madness.
Go on. Love your glitter polishes again.

Look Of The Week: Mixed Metals!
Who says you can’t mix silver and gold? This is one of those looks born out of “I really don’t want to dig around, I wonder if I can make almost an entire look with one palette”. Turns out, the answer is yes!

Tip Tuesday: Crystal Nail File
What’s my favourite nail tool? My crystal nail file. It sounds so fancy, doesn’t it?
“Why yes I have a file you can borrow, do make sure you are careful with it. It is crystal after all, my dear.”
These little suckers cost less than $10 at most places and the best part? They are 100% reusable! I’ve had mine for three years now and I am still in love.
It’s very gentle on the nail and can easily be washed clean with soap and water. Love, love, love it!!
They are pretty hardy too, even though they are made of glass. Mine has a small chip in it from getting dropped on the tile floor of our bathroom, but I’d still say that isn’t bad.
So go on, become a fancy lady, get yourself a crystal file!
Look of the Week: Cheetah!
I decided to rock the super fun cheetah print. I love it because it’s a uper forgiving pattern, you don’t have to have a super steady hand because it almost looks better when it’s messy!

Tip Tuesday: The joys of cuticle oil!
This week’s Tip Tuesday is a quickie, but a goodie.
First let me start by saying, I used to be AWFUL at doing my nails. My mother can attest to that. I used to get polish all over my skin and lots of other crazy madness problems (like touching things when it was still wet). But at some point I decided I wanted to actually be able to do my nails and do them well.
The first trick I learned? I put cuticle oil around my nail bed before I paint my nails. This does two things: it stops the polish from being able to stick to your skin, so even if you don’t paint in the lines it flakes off super easily AND it moisturizes your cuticles so they don’t look so scary.
Fast, easy and kills two birds with one stone.
It was a long road to nail recovery people, but believe you me, this is the improved version of nail painting.
